By playing/browsing/registering for www.canine-island.net, you agree to be bound by the terms of service stated below including future modifications made by me, Salukigirl the adminiator and owner of Canine Island.
www.canine-island.net (Canine Island, CI, site or game) is run and owned privately by me (I or Salukigirl). Canine Island can be shut down for changes or even permanently or it can be sold/ given away with or without notice or the consent of its users. I have the right to change what I want to change and also to keep what I want to keep in the game.
You, as a player, user, moderator, guest or anyone else do not have the authority to tell me what is and what is not acceptable on my site or what I can and cannot do. You being here is a privilege that I can take away at any time for any reason within or outside of the term of service and rules. To put it straightforwardly, if you are going to be here, understand that Salukigirl is the boss and can do whatever she wants.
General Rules:
Everything you see here, art, text, coding, ideas etc is copyrighted. Therefore, you are not allowed to touch/use/modify/steal/plagiarize/sell anything and everything you see here without my consent in black and white.
This simulation game was created and intended for the sole entertainment and education of players 13 years old and above. So you must be 13 years old and above to become a member of Canine Island. I do not in any way endorse/encourage or claim anything you see here as fact. What Canine Island dogs eat may or may not be alright for real life dogs to eat. I am not responsible for the accuracy of this simulation game.
Do not publicly display or reveal personal information of oneself like your full real life name, phone number, home address etc. Canine Island will not be responsible if harassment or stalking happens in the offline world.
Canine Island will not be responsible for heartaches or headaches caused by some unruly players nor will it be accountable for the lost of accounts/money/items or deteriorating health. CI will not be responsible for what you see/read here.
All players are granted a set of privileges that can be taken away at any time if a user breaks any rule. Even if you have donated to the site once or many times, or if you are the most generous donator, you can and will be banned if you violate rules. Canine Island is not obliged to provide refunds to any player/user under any circumstance or for any reason.
You must report bugs or errors in the coding found in the site to me immediately. Users who take advantage of the bugs or lie when the items/money are being retrieved to get more items/money will be immediately banned from the game. We do not tolerate liars and cheaters on this site, nor do we need them.
Each player is allowed to have 2 accounts at most. Ownership of an account is defined as having the knowledge of the username and password of an account. Canine Island records your IP address and the accounts listed under your IP address. Hence, if you are found with extra accounts, you will be allowed to choose the accounts you want to keep. The other accounts will be deleted. If one of your 2 accounts has been deleted, you are not allowed to create a new account to replace the deleted one. If all your accounts have been deleted, then please don’t come back to play Canine Island. If you do, your IP address will be permanently banned.
In-game items, accounts, and art are advised not to be sold or bought for any real life currency. But if you are cheated out of your money, Canine Island will not be responsible. Accounts are strongly advised not to be shared. Not every user/player is trustworthy. You have been warned.
If you choose to share your account you are giving up the right to report any stolen/hacked items/account/money etc. You Sharing your password voluntarily does not count as account theft or hacking.
Tags or avatars that are worn in the name using HTML should be no more than 150 x 150 pixels in size. If the tag exceeds the limit, please resize/crop it. You are to comply or the moderators will remove it by force.
New Important Notice: Canine Island accounts now will not run on account number basis. All of those that paid for a specific account number will be refunded in full.
Player Conduct:
The English language is the only language allowed to be used in Canine Island’s forums, messages and the chat room.
Inappropriate behavior including but not limited to cursing, swearing, lying, impersonating a moderator/player, bashing, flaming, spamming, flooding, begging, slandering, harassing, trolling, scamming, defrauding, nagging, lecturing, mini-moderating, mocking, blackmailing, threatening, defaming, labeling, name-calling etc are prohibited. You will be dealt with appropriately.
Actions like publicly posting sexually explicit material, hateful or racially/ethnically/religiously insulting, publicly blacklisting people and anything deemed unacceptable like stealing/selling/using copyrighted art, layouts or coding or doing anything illegal will earn you a permanent ban from the site.
Users/players are not allowed to send chain mail or unsolicited offers and advertisements or sexually explicit material to other users in the site.
Religion and politics are highly sensitive issues. Therefore, swear words like Christ, Jesus, or sentences like That person that you’re voting for is a lousy leader are not allowed because they are highly offensive. Discussions on religion and politics are to be civil. If things get out of hand, moderators have the right to close/delete threads/posts.
Cheaters, bias individual, liars and/or corrupt figures will not be permitted to play Canine Island. This is decided completely on the opinion of the site owner, Salukigirl. If you fit into one or more of these categories, you will not be allowed into Canine Island to cause damage and harm to our humble community.
You can and will be banned from Canine Island if you have:
Stolen, cheated or lied on Canine Island or on another site
Performed an outrageous act that is wrong and against the law like copyright infringement etc.
Discriminated, prejudiced and/or passed an unreasonable, unfair judgment on a current or former member of Canine Island including players, moderators and administrators.
Broken one or many of the rules on Canine Island
The above list includes (but is not limited to) reasons why you will be banned from Canine Island. Please keep in mind that Canine Island was created to be a tight knit community of dog lovers of all ages. We take pride in protecting and defending our community and reputation.
Moderators are the people who are appointed to preside over the forums, chats etc. They are to be obeyed. If they decide a topic should be dropped, players must comply and cease to discuss about that particular topic. If they fail to obey, they can and will be given a warning/fine or even a ban. However, if a moderator or a group of moderators aren’t doing their job well (e.g. joining in with the riots or doing something inappropriate), please send me, Salukigirl, a message describing the situation and the moderator’s actions. A screenshot will help a lot.
Also note that Canine Island is only in BETA stage. There could and will be bugs and errors in the coding, serious or otherwise. We appreciate your patience and will gladly accept suggestions on site’s improvement but patience is key. The site owner and coders of Canine Island sincerely thank you for your support and understanding in advance.
Kennel Rules:
No profane words, swear words or sentences describing violent, immoral acts are allowed in your nickname, tag/avatar, kennel profile, dog names, dog descriptions etc.
Kennel layouts, and all HTML text and graphics must not interfere with Canine Island's layout or cover the top 1/3 of the site which contains the navigation links and where the important alerts are displayed. Your layout can and will be cleared without any warning. All images displayed in the kennel must not stretch the site.
Selling/Buying Rules:
All auctions (art, items or accounts) must state an end date. Auctions that have to be announced or TBA end dates are forbidden.
Art can be sold/bought for real life money, but please be cautious. Money transactions must be made through Paypal or any other secure online payment method. We do not encourage our young members to give out their personal information.
Impersonating an artist for any reason is not tolerated. You will be fined and all the buyers will be refunded from your account.
Do not post art or photos that stretch the post. If it is too large, you can resize it or provide a link and/or URL to the image.
Please do not sell art/pictures/layouts/coding that is not created by you. Non-copyrighted images found on the internet can be used.
Forum and Chat Room Rules:
Most of the rules stated above are to be adhered to in the Forum and in the Chat Room. Refrain from using glaring or flamboyant colors and excessive capital letters in your posts and in the Chat Room.
Advertising is not allowed in the Chat Room. The Chat Room is for players to hang out with each other, not to promote your sales.
Do post your posts in the correct board. (e.g. Art sales posts are to be posted in the Art Sales Board etc)
We do not tolerate users/players that are considered a threat to the reputation of Canine Island. Therefore, their IP address and accounts will all be banned permanently from the site. Constructive criticism in the site is very welcome, but giving non-constructive criticism/back-stabbing Canine Island in another simulation game is unacceptable. You will be identified and your IP address and account(s) will be banned from Canine Island. These terms of service will be strictly enforced by the moderators. You agree to have read and will obey them. Rule violators will be permanently banned. These terms of service and rules are here for a reason.
Board Specific Rules:
Canine Reproduction Board: Posts on this board allow sexually explicit dog photos and videos. Pictures and videos posted here are for education purposes only, and are to be of reputable breeding practices only. (I.e No breeding of mutts, images/ stories of unsafe/irreputable breeding conditions etc.
Real Life Help Board:
Please refrain from posts about adult/mature topics such as relationships with boyfriend/girlfriend, sexual orientation, drugs, etc.
Rants Board:
Please be anonymous about posts on this board. Topics mentioning names/ posts against another person(regardless if we know them or not) is considered bashing/harassment and the topic will be deleted and the poster fined.
Art Market and Art Show Off Boards:
Any and all art displayed in topics must not stretch the site. Please provide a url or link to a large image.
Artists: Please specify where your art may be used (ie if it was bought on Canine Island but can also be used or Furry-paws, Dog Realm, Houndism or any other site)
Buyers: Please ask the artist before using their art on any other site and make sure it is ok with them.
Important message about account sitters/ boarding:
Canine Island has a default kennel sitter tool. Meaning you do not have to hire another person to take care of your dogs/account.
The tool does not enter your dogs in shows. Only cares for them.
The tool is ONLY to be used if you are going away on a vacation or something and cannot watch your dogs for any length of time.
Players using this tool on a day-to-day basis so that they do not have to take care of their dogs themselves is abusing the tool and your account will be frozen.
It is highly recommended that players not give their account information to a sitter. Many people are untrustworthy and Canine Island is not responsible for stolen accounts or items. Moderators can do nothing to the thief if you gave them your password.
While the tool is initiated players still may browse the boards and chat. The tool gives water, food and plays with dogs at 12:01. Approximately 60 seconds after the game is reset for the next day.
Guidelines:
When scammed, hacked or cheated:
immediately report the situation to the moderators. Do not make a scene about it publicly please. We will ban the IP address of the person that hacked into your account and let you into your account with a new password.
immediately change your email address and password.
never ever tell anyone else your password again to prevent history from repeating itself.
When being harassed or bashed:
ignore the person(s) and report them immediately to the moderators. Do not harass or bash them back or you may end up getting warned/fined/banned too.
Definitions:
Scam - a clever and dishonest plan for making money/ to get into accounts.
Bash - a very strong criticism (most of the time inappropriate and unconstructive) towards somebody.
Harass - to annoy or irritate somebody by putting pressure on them or saying, doing, sending unpleasant things/ inappropriate images to them or to make repeated attacks on a player.
When Donating to the site:
USD Only, Paypal only.(credit card payments through paypal is ok too. But note there is a precent charge if used a credit card. You will be awarded the tokens by the amount recieved NOT the amount sent. i.e if you send $2 and I receive 1.47 of it you will be awarded 2 tokens.)
For every .50 cents donated you receive 1 token.
Please include your account number in the notes section of the send money form. If you do not do this you will not be given your tokens. I am not responsible for "lost" tokens.
If you do a chargeback through paypal your account will be immediately frozen and your IP banned.
By donating you are confirming that the money is owned by you and that you have permission to donate it.
All donations are final. Canine Island makes no guarantee to remain open for any length of time and may close either temporarily or permanently without warning.
NO REFUNDS under any circumstances.
Privacy Policy
Canine Island collects players’ IP (Internet Protocol) addresses to track down players in the site. Email addresses will also be recorded so that account notices (activation codes, lost passwords) can be sent to players.
Canine Island uses cookies to enhance a user’s experience in the site as well as maintaining a user's account information and account possessions.
Canine Island will never share any player information with a third party. (but note: in the event in which a player has committed a serious federal crime their IP address may be released to law enforcement officials.) We hope there is no incident in which we would have to do this, but it is also a crime NOT to report evidence if you have it.
Image Bank Agreement:
By submitting your image(s) into our Image Bank, you agree that we can use the image(s) on Canine Island in any way, shape or form. You agree to give an irrevocable right to Canine Island to use your image. Canine Island's Image bank is non-exclusive. This means that your dog image may also appear in another sim's Image Bank if it not against their rules. You agree that the image(s) you submit is of your own work, not traced/modified/stolen/used in another site. You agree that you have not and will not use or sell the image(s) on any other website. Only websites that are solely used to display your image(s) as examples of your art are exempted.
Image Bank Submission Rules:
For your image to be accepted into the Image Bank, the image must be yours and yours only unless you collaborated with another person your dog image must...
bear resemblance to the dog’s breed
the dog's anatomy must be correct
the dog's color and markings should be correct and quality shading is a bonus
the size of the image must be at least 200 x 200 pixels and 400 x 400 pixels at most
Your submission will be disqualified if:
the image is too small
the image has exceeded the size limit
the image is stolen
the image is a photograph
the URL to the image is broken or incorrect
the dog you drew doesn’t resemble the breed/has incorrect anatomy or is of the wrong color the overall drawing is of poor quality
the image you submitted has appeared/been used/sold on another website there are other animals in the image with the dog
Tracing from a photograph is allowed but:
1. The photograph must be owned by you, the submitter
2. You must prove that you own the photograph
3. The dog traced must be owned by you
4. If the dog is not your own, you must obtain the written permission from the owner of the dog
Tracing your own photographs is not against the law. Referencing photographs are also allowed.
